STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) - Tyra Grant had 27 points and Meredith Monroe added 14 points and 13 rebounds to lead Penn State to a 77-73 victory over No. 15 Pittsburgh on Saturday.
Nikki Greene added 12 points for Penn State (7-3) in its first win over a ranked foe since beating No. 11 Duke two years ago.
Shayla Scott had 17 points and Sophronia Sallard added 15 for the previously undefeated Panthers (8-1).
Julia Trogele hit a 3-pointer with just over 7 minutes left to put Penn State up 55-52. Grant extended the lead with a three-point play after getting fouled on a layup.
Pitt cut the deficit to 65-64 with 2:52 left after a 3 by Scott, but the Nittany Lions responded with 3s from Zhaque Gray and Trogele over the next minute to go up by seven. Penn State hit five 3s over the final 10 minutes.
