Numerous Nittany Lion Baseball Opponents Ranked in Preseason Polls

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State baseball will face some of the top competition in the nation in 2010 as evident by the preseason national rankings bestowed upon their opponents. Collegiate Baseball's "Fabulous 40" released on Monday includes five Penn State foes along with five others who were among "others receiving votes." In addition, two opponents cracked the PING! Baseball Top 30 released last week.

Among the top 40 are: Ohio State (14), Texas A&M (29), Minnesota (30), Notre Dame (39) and Dallas Baptist (40). Five other Penn State opponents received votes as well: Michigan, Kent State, Illinois, Texas State and Winthrop.

The Buckeyes won last season's Big Ten Regular Season Championship behind a 42-19 record, 18-6 in conference play. The Nittany Lions travel to Columbus this season for a big three-game series from Apr. 23-25. In addition, Ohio State and Minnesota both made PING! Baseball's Top 30, coming in 24th and 30th, respectively.

The Nittany Lions are preparing for an exciting 2010 campaign which kicks off on Feb. 20 against Coppin State.
