National Championship Match Earns No. 2 Rating

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - On Dec. 19, 2009 the Penn State women's volleyball won its third consecutive and fourth overall NCAA National Championship. The championship match between the Nittany Lions and the Longhorns was the No. 2 rated NCAA women's volleyball championship match of all time at 0.79.

More than 12,000 fans attended the national championship match between No. 1 Penn State and No. 2 Texas, while more than 780,000 homes nationwide tuned in to the broadcast. The rating for the 2007 final between Penn State and Stanford was 0.53 and the 2008 match between the same two squads earned a 0.66 rating. The highest ever NCAA Division I women's volleyball championship match was the 1982 match between Hawaii and USC, which was tape-delayed on ESPN. It earned a rating of 1.40.
