UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. - The Penn State Lady Lions (9-4, 1-2) continued their road swing in the state of Illinois when they face Northwestern (11-3, 2-1) on Sunday at 3 p.m. (Eastern) at Welsh-Ryan Arena in Evanston. The Lady Lions are 26-7 all-time against the Wildcats, but have lost the last two games played at Welsh-Ryan Arena.

LAST TIME OUT: The Lady Lions struggled to find their rhythm offensively in a 69-60 loss at Illinois Thursday afternoon. Senior guard Tyra Grant led three Lady Lions in double figures with 17 points, five rebounds and four assists. Freshman Nikki Greene equaled her career high with 12 points that included a 3-for-4 effort from the field and a 6-for-8 mark from the free throw line. She also pulled in seven rebounds and blocked a pair of shots. Fellow freshman Alex Bentley also reached double-digits with 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting, while junior Julia Trogele pulled in a team-best eight rebounds.
SCOUTING NORTHWESTERN: The Wildcats are 11-3 overall and 2-1 in Big Ten play this season. Northwestern has conference wins over Purdue and Michigan thus far. Amy Jaeschke leads the way for the Wildcats, averaging 16.1 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. She is also among the Big Ten leaders in blocked shots with 51. Brittany Orban is second on the squad in scoring at an 11.1 clip.
ALL-TIME VS. WILDCATS: The Lady Lions are 26-7 all-time against the Wildcats with a 9-5 record in games played in Evanston. Northwestern was victorious in each of the last two games at Welsh-Ryan Arena in 2006 and 2007. Penn State won the lone game against the Wildcats last season by a 65-50 margin at the Bryce Jordan Center.
LAST TIME VS. NU: The Lady Lions scored 46 second-half points en route to a 65-50 win over Northwestern on Feb. 26, 2009. Tyra Grant led the way for the Lady Lions with 23 points to go along with five rebounds and two steals. Senior Mashea Williams tallied 12 points, nine rebounds, five assists and three steals.
NICE PERFORMANCE BY NIKKI: Freshman center Nikki Greene turned in a nice performance in the second half against Illinois on New Year's Eve. The rookie scored 10 of her 12 points and pulled in six of her seven rebounds in the second frame. Greene's 12 points equal her career high.
The Lady Lions return to the Bryce Jordan Center on Sunday, Jan. 10 against Indiana at noon. The Subway Full Court Four-Pack is available for the Indiana game. The 2010 WBCA Pink Zone at Penn State will take place on Sunday, Jan. 24 at 1 p.m., as the Lady Lions take on Illinois in the Bryce Jordan Center. The game can be seen on www.bigtennetwork.com. The first three Pink Zone events have raised more than $80,000 for breast cancer awareness. This year's fundraising efforts will benefit the Mount Nittany Medical Center, Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute, Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition and the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund.
