Sophomore guard Renee Womack (Lansdale, Pa.) will miss the remainder of the 2009-10 season after tearing the Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) in her left knee at practice on Saturday.

The team's defensive stopper off of the bench, Womack is averaging 2.8 points and 3.1 rebounds per game. She has eight blocks and nine steals in 13 appearances this season. Womack is also shooting 40.5% from the field. Earlier this season, Womack came off of the bench to score a personal-best eight points against Bucknell. She had a career night against Iowa on Dec. 28. The sophomore tied her career mark with eight rebounds to go along with personal bests of four assists, three blocks and two steals. For her career, Womack has scored 80 points, pulled down 95 rebounds, nabbed 23 steals and blocked 10 shots.

The Lady Lions travel to Iowa on Thursday, before returning to the Bryce Jordan Center on Sunday, Jan. 17 to face Michigan State at 1 p.m. on Autograph Day. The 2010 WBCA Pink Zone at Penn State will take place on Sunday, Jan. 24 at 1 p.m., as the Lady Lions take on Illinois in the Bryce Jordan Center. The game can be seen on www.bigtennetwork.com. The first three Pink Zone events have raised more than $80,000 for breast cancer awareness. This year's fundraising efforts will benefit the Mount Nittany Medical Center, Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute, Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition and the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund.
