UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- This Saturday, several Penn State fencers will compete in the NCAA Regional Championships for a spot in the final NCAA Championships. The event will take place in Madison, N.J.
In the women's epee, Marg Guzzi leads the team with an impressive 25-2 record. In the men's epee, senior captain Nick Chinman (Boulder, Colo.) excelled with a 21-9 dual record.
In the foil, junior captain Doris Willette (Lafayette, Calif.) continues to dominate the women's competition, boasting a 30-3 record this season. Sophomore Miles Chamley-Watson (Philadelphia, Pa.) and junior Sam Perkins (Petaluma, Calif.) have taken charge in the men's foil with similar dual records of 27-4 and 27-3, respectively.
Lastly in the saber, women's team fencer Jessica Russo (Wayne, N.J.) continues to succeed in her freshman season, posting a 36-11 dual record. Sophomore Olivia Benedek (State College, Pa.) has also done well in dual action this season with a 27-18 record.
In the men's saber, senior Daniel Bak (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) leads the men's team with a strong 26-8 record.
