UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State men's volleyball senior middle hitter Max Lipsitz (Williamsville, N.Y.) has been named the EIVA Player of the Week, conference officials announced Monday. The honor is the fifth honor for the Nittany Lions this season. Other PSU honorees in 2010 include, senior Will Price (Gaithersburg, Md.), redshirt sophomore Edgardo Goas (San Juan, Puerto Rico), redshirt sophomore Joe Sunder (Greensburg, Md.) and sophomore Ryan Wolf (York, Pa.)
Lipsitz guided the Nittany Lions to a 3-0 sweep of EIVA Tait opponent Saint Francis on Friday, March 19. He totaled nine kills in 11 swings for a .797 attack percentage. Lipsitz also put up five blocks. On Sunday, March 21 against the No. 14 Buckeyes, Lipsitz posted 15 kills and had four blocks, including two solo, while adding three digs. For the weekend, Lipsitz averaged 4.00 kills per set, .50 digs per set, 1.50 blocks per set and 4.21 points per set.
The Nittany Lions are back in action at Juniata on March 23 at 7 p.m. Penn State plays its final regular season home match on Friday, March 26 when the Lions hosts Princeton at 7 p.m. in Rec Hall.
