UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State men's golf team continues its spring season with a road trip to Delray Beach, Fla., as it faces 16 teams at the second annual Spring Break Championship Tournament hosted by Florida Atlantic University.
The three-day, 54-hole tournament will take place on Friday, March 26 through Sunday, March 28 at the Gleneagles Country Club in Delray Beach, Fla.
Penn State, ranked No. 82 will face nine additionally ranked teams including defending tournament champion Illinois (12), Iowa (41), Michigan (45), Eastern Michigan (72), Notre Dame (79), Ohio State (85), Minnesota (87), St. Mary's College (97), and FAU (100). Other teams set to compete include Wisconsin, Northern Illinois, Florida Gulf Coast, Southern Florida, Murray State, and Marquette.
Last week's Big Ten Golfer of the Week, junior Nittany Lion, Tommy McDonagh (Wilton, Conn.) will join seniors Kevin Foley (Somerville, N.J.), T.J. Howe (Osceola, Pa.), and Jim Markovitz (Bridgeville, Pa), and freshman standout Ernesto Marin (Miami, Fla.) in Penn State's first appearance at the Spring Break Championships.
In the last outing by the Nittany Lions McDoangh led the team to a third-place finish at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate as he rallied to an eighth-place position carding rounds of 73-71-76 (220).
