PALO ALTO, Calif. - With the outdoor season already underway around the country, seniors Tyler McCandless (Bath, Pa.), and Cheryl Spring (The Woodlands, Texas) will get things rolling for the Nittany Lions, competing at the Stanford Invitational at Cobb Track and Angell Field. Both senior distance runners will take on competitive 10,000-meter fields on Friday evening.

McCandless will be competing at Stanford for the second-straight year, after turning in a personal-best 29:48.57 in the 6.2-mile event last spring. McCandless is coming off an exciting end to his final indoor campaign, after scoring a sixth-place finish in the 5,000-meters at the Big Ten Indoor Championships, thanks to a PR effort of 14:21.50. Spring also mounted an impressive indoor campaign as a senior, posting NCAA provisional-qualifying performances in the 3,000-meters (9:27.41), and 5,000-meters (16:22.30). Friday's 10K will Spring's first-career attempt at the distance.

The 10,000-meter sections begin at 8:58 p.m. PDT, Friday evening. Log on to www.GoPSUsports.com for results and full Nittany Lion recap following the conclusion of the races.

The rest of the Nittany Lions will train through the weekend, before heading to the Pepsi Florida Relays, set for April 2-3, on the campus of the University of Florida.
