No. 17 Women's Gymnastics Hosts Bridgeport, Maryland and No. 12 Michigan at Rec Hall

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The No. 17 Penn State women's gymnastics team hosts Bridgeport, Maryland and Big Ten foe Michigan in a quad meet on Sunday, March 7. Meet action is set for 2 p.m. in Rec Hall.

The Series: Penn State vs. Bridgeport
This is only the second meeting between the Nittany Lions and the Purple Knights. The two squads first met last season in a quad meet with Rutgers and New Hampshire. Penn State won the meet with a 196.175, while Bridgeport finished fourth with a 187.525.

The Series: Penn State vs. Maryland
Penn State is 9-1 all-time against the Terps. The teams first met in 1987 at New Hampshire. PSU won the tri-meet with a 178.40, while Maryland was third with a 174.60. The Lions last faced UMD in 2007 winning by a score of 195.275-191.600.

The Series: Penn State vs. Michigan
The Wolverines lead the series with PSU 19-5. The Nittany Lions' last win against Michigan was in 2007 by a score of 195.900-195.525. The teams have met four times since then with Michigan winning each meet, including three times at the Big Ten Championships. The Wolverines are the three-time defending Big Ten Champs.

What's Next?
The Nittany Lions travel to No. 9 Utah on Friday, March 12. Penn State joins No. 6 Oregon State and No. 20 Southern Utah for a quad meet. Action is set for 7 p.m. MT.

Merriam Makes AA Debut
Freshman Madison Merriam made her career debut in the all-around on Feb. 27 at Ohio State. Merriam finished sixth with a 37.900. She competed on vault for just the second time this season finishing third with a 9.850 and won her first event title on bars with a 9.775. It was also Merriam's first appearance on beam.

Musser Steps Up in the All-Around
Freshman Sharaya Musser competed in the all-around for just the second time this season on Feb. 27 at Ohio State. Musser brought home two individual events titles on her way to finishing second in the all-around with a 39.150. She won her first vault title with a 9.900 and also took top honors on beam with a 9.875.
