GAINESVILLE, Fla.: April 3, 2010 - Freshman Casimir Loxsom (New Haven, Conn.), junior Lionel Williams (Staten Island, N.Y.), junior Owen Dawson (Coatesville, Pa.), and Ryan Foster (Tasmania, Australia) combined to win the men's 4x800-meter relay, to pace the Nittany Lion track and field squads, Saturday at the Florida Relays at Percy Beard Track. Highlighting the Penn State effort in the field events was junior Karlee McQuillen (Johnstown, Pa.), who posted a second-place finish in the javelin.

Anchored by a 1:46.9 split from Foster, the Nittany Lions notched the victory with an impressive 7:18.72 - the seventh-fastest performance in Penn State history. The quartet also set a new Florida Relays meet record, bettering Florida's 7:23.24 from 2002, and also established a new Percy Beard facility record, topping Club West's 7:22.1 from 1972.

McQuillen - in her first appearance of the 2010 campaign - took second-place honors in the javelin, thanks to a throw of 161-9 (49.32m) - a top 10 mark in the NCAA Division I this year. Sophomore Duri Greene (Wyndmoor, Pa.) led the Lions in the event on the men's side, placing 11th with a performance of 192-1 (58.55).

The Nittany Lions opened the afternoon with a bang, winning their heat and placing third overall in the sprint medley relay with a finishing time of 3:55.32 - the seventh-fastest time in school history. Comprising the relay, which is ordered 200-meters, 200-meters, 400-meters, and 800-meters, were Caitlin Defusco (Schwenksville, Pa.), Erika Schmidt (Waterville, Ohio), Megan Duncan (North Huntingdon, Pa.) and Caitlin Lane (Greenwich, N.Y.). The Lions would post a 10th-place finish in the men's sprint medley running 3:29.53 with sophomore Jacob Librizzi (Pa. Furnance, Pa.), Jonathan Kowal (Ambridge, Pa.), sophomore Ethan Diehm (Lebanon, Pa.) and freshman Sam Havko (Fairview, Pa.) on the squad.

Also in the relays, the Nittany Lion 4x100-meter squad claimed a 10th-place finish overall in 45.65 with the team of junior Shavon Greaves (Lakewood, N.J.), DeFusco, senior Aleesha Barber (Decatur, Ga.), and freshman Doris Anyanwu (Beltsville, Md.).

The Nittany Lion women took fourth in the women's distance medley with senior Bridget Franek (Hiram, Ohio), junior Elizabeth Kearins (Doylestown, Pa.), freshman Lindsey Graybill (Macungie, Pa.), and freshman Natalie Bower (Pleasant Unity, Pa.) covering the 1200-meter, 400-meter, 800-meter and 1600-meter distances. The squad finished in 11:41.82. The Lions also turned in a fourth-place effort in the DMR on the men's side, thanks to outstanding performances from freshman Tyler Corkedale (West Windsor, N.J.), senior Kevin Fuller (Camp Hill, Pa.), junior Samuel Borchers (Yellow Springs, Ohio), and sophomore Vince McNally (Smoketown, Pa.), who combined to finish in 10:00.21.

Sophomore Hanif Johnson (Harrisburg, Pa.) also recorded a top 10 finish, placing ninth in the triple jump with a leap of 49-5.75 (15.08).

The Nittany Lions will be back in action next weekend, traveling to the Sun Angel Classic at Arizona State University in Tempe, Ariz., set for Saturday, April 10.
