Maple Plain, Minn. - With the conclusion of the first 36 holes at the Big Ten men's golf championships the Penn State men's golf team sits in ninth place at 22-over-par. The Nittany Lions shot rounds of 296-294 with a total of 590, 28-strokes back from leading team, Illinois.
Leading for the Nittany Lions is senior T.J. Howe (Osceola, Pa.), posting rounds of 71-73 to finish at 2-over-par. With a 144 total, Howe heads into the third round tied for 14.
Senior Kevin Foley (Somerville, N.J.) fired a second-round 71 to rally back into the top 20 at 16th. Foley posted a 145 total with rounds of 74-71 (+3). Freshman Ernesto Marin (Miami, Fla.) will head into tomorrow's round at 33rd after posting rounds of 75-74 (149). Junior Tommy McDonagh (East Norwalk, Conn.) posted a 153 (+11) with rounds of 76-77. Rounding out the Nittany Lion lineup is senior Jim Markovitz (Bridgeville, Pa.) who carded rounds of 78-76, 154.
