Maple Plain, Minn. - The Penn State men's golf team shot a third-round 307 to finish at 45-over-par. The Nittany Lions will enter the final round of the Big Ten golf championships in ninth, 35-strokes back from first place team, Illinois. The Lions have posted rounds of 296-294-307, 897.
For the second day, senior T.J. Howe (Osceola, Pa.) leads the way for the Nittany Lions at 2-over-par. Howe shot a third-round 71, placing him tied for seventh for the final 18 of the championship. Howe carded rounds of 71-73-71, 215.
Senior Kevin Foley (Somerville, N.J.) posted a third-round 75, to finish tied for 15. Foley will enter the final day of competition with a card of 74-71-75, 220. Freshman Ernesto Marin (Miami, Fla.) sits in 45th place with a three-round, 20-over-par performance. Marin carded rounds of 75-74-84, 233. Junior Tommy McDonagh (East Norwalk, Conn.) concluded the day tied for 51 with a 236 (+23), posting rounds of 76-77-83. Senior Jim Markovitz (Bridgeville, Pa.) rounded out for the Nittany Lion line-up with rounds of 78-76-78, 232.
