Fifth Annual Kevin Dare Memorial Golf Tournament to Benefit Dare Foundation

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Fifth Annual Kevin Dare Memorial Golf Tournament is set for Monday, Sept. 20, with proceeds benefitting the Kevin Dare Foundation.

The event will be held at the Penn State Blue and White Courses. Registration will begin at 9 a.m., with lunch and a shotgun start slated for 11 a.m., followed by dinner and silent auction immediately after play.

The event has been has been highly successful in raising funds to support the Kevin Dare Foundation, which is dedicated to making the sport of pole vaulting a safer event. Kevin Dare, a highly accomplished pole vaulter at Penn State, died while competing at the 2002 Big Ten Indoor Track and Field Championships. The Dare Foundation has worked for more than eight years to prompt the adoption of rule changes and improve equipment to make the sport of pole vaulting safer.

Proceeds from the golf tournament and Kevin Dare Memorial Benefits also support the Penn State Track and Field Facility Fund, established in Kevin's name. Kevin Dare Memorial Benefits have raised more than $500,000 to aid in pole vault safety worldwide and provide an annual scholarship to a Penn State track and field student-athlete.
