Nittany Lion Shortstop Luis Montesinos Named to Florida League All-Star Game

SANFORD, Fla. - Penn State rising sophomore Luis Montesinos (Miami, Fla.) has been named a Florida Collegiate Summer League All-Star and will participate in the league's midsummer classic this Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Sanford Memorial Stadium. Montesinos has impressed for the Orlando Mavericks, posting a .326 average (15-for-46) with four extra-base hits through 11 games.

Montesinos' average is good for second on the Mavericks while his .457 slugging percentage is also second best. Overall, he has one home run and three doubles along with three stolen bases.

Numerous college powers are represented in the game, which includes players from Georgia Tech, St. John's, Alabama, Ohio State and more.

The game will be presented and televised by Bright House Networks and will air live at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
