Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. - Nittany Lion newcomer, Mike Miller, continued his junior golf career in outstanding fashion Thursday, winning the 93rd Met Junior Championship for the first time. The Brewster, N.Y. native defeated Schuyler Stizer, 2 & 1 in the final day of the MGA tournament at the Ardsley Country Club in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.
The freshman-to-be catapulted himself ahead of the 64-player field by overthrowing reigning WGA Amateur champion Jonathan Renza, 6 & 5 to reach the finals. Miller's win marks his first MGA championship in his junior career.
Miller will remain active on the links next week, Aug., 4, at the Carter Cup at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, N.J., before making his Nittany Lion debut.
