Hodge Named a Finalist for Sportswoman of the Year

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Former Nittany Lion women's volleyball player Megan Hodge (Durham, N.C.) has been named a finalist for the Women's Sports Foundation's Sportswoman of the Year award. Hodge is one of ten finalists selected for the 2010 honor, which fans can vote for to determine the ultimate winner.

The Women's Sports Foundation honors an individual and team each year based on their exceptional performance during a 12-month time span. Past winners include Nastia Liukin for gymnastics, Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh in beach volleyball and Mia Hamm in women's soccer.

Fans can vote until midnight on Aug. 31 and the winners will be notified on Sept. 3. The award will be presented at the Annual Salute to Women in Sports Awards dinner on October 12 at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City. To vote, please click here.

Hodge was a four-year member of the Penn State women's volleyball team and guided the Nittany Lions to an unprecedented three straight NCAA National Championships. She was a four-time AVCA First Team All-American and was selected as the AVCA Division I Player of the Year in 2009. In addition, Hodge was co-winner of the Honda-Broderick Cup, a two-time Big Ten Player of the Year, the 2009-10 Suzy Favor Big Ten Female Athlete of the Year, the 2009 ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year for women's volleyball, an ESPY nominee and a finalist for the AAU Sullivan Award. Hodge is currently competing with the U.S. Women's National Team in the 18th FIVB World Grand Prix.
