Ben Heath Promoted to Lexington; Will Miss Series in State College

Aug. 7, 2010

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Former Penn State catcher Ben Heath (Huntersville, N.C.) will be promoted to the single-A Lexington Legends on Saturday, meaning he will miss the Tri-City ValleyCats' series in State College.

Heath will meet up with his new team in Salisbury, Md. The Legends, who play in the South Atlantic League, are in the midst of a series at Delmarva. Also in the league is former Penn State pitcher Craig Clark ('07), who throws for the San Francisco Giants' affiliate in Augusta. The two former teammates could meet when the squads play a four-game series from Aug. 21-24.

Following their series at Delmarva, the Legends return home to Applebee's Park in Lexington, Kentucky next Thursday to face the Pittsburgh Pirates' affiliate, the West Virginia Power.

Heath was hitting .248 with six home runs and 21 RBI in 37 games for the short-season single-A Tri-City ValleyCats at the time of his recall.
