Penn State Women's Golf Team in 12th Place at Cougar Classic at College of Charleston

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State women's golf team, under the guidance of head coach Denise St. Pierre, sits in 12 place of 21 teams after the second round of the Cougar Classic hosted by the College of Charleston in Hanahan.

The Nittany Lions shot a 309 today after a 297 in round one yesterday for 21-over par 606. North Carolina leads the event with a 6-under 570 with two rounds of 285. The Nittany Lions are just one stroke behind Big Ten rival Wisconsin, which is in 11th place.

Giulia Carando (Torino, Italy) leads Penn State with a 149 after shooting 76 today. Carando is tied for 32nd. Gia Fanelli (West Palm Beach, Fla.) is tied for 39th with a 150 after shooting 77 today, while Hanule Seo (St. Louis, Mo.) is tied for 51st after a 78. North Carolina's Courtney Gunter and Furman's Laura Wearn share the team lead with combined 140's for 4-under through two rounds.

The Cougar Classic will conclude tomorrow with a third and final round at the event hosted by the College of Charleston.
