CAMBRIDGE, Md. - The Penn State men's golf team wrapped up the second round of the Maryland Intercollegiate in second place after shooting rounds of 280-281 (561), finishing the day seven-under par. The Nittany Lions are a single stroke behind first-place team UNC-Wilmington.
Freshman standout Michael Miller (Brewster, N.Y.) shot two remarkable rounds, 70-68 (138). From the first round through the second round of action, Miller jumped five positions and finishing three-under par. Miller tracks first place Toledo's Jean-Hubert Trahan by one stroke. Jean-Hubert finished the day with a two-round total of 137 (66-71).
Senior T.J. Howe (Osceola, Pa.) followed close behind Miller carding rounds of 68-71 (138) to place him tied for fourth going into the third round. Sophomore newcomer Anthony DeGol (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) held a consistent score of 70 in the first two rounds of play, shooting two-under par and proving to be someone to look out for in the field. Sophomore Ernesto Marin (Miami, Fla) shot two-over par, holding a consistent 72 through both rounds of play. Marin sits tied for 17. Senior Tommy McDonagh (East Norwalk, Conn.) improved his second round by one stroke; totaling 147 (74-73) for the first two rounds and finishing the day tied for 28.
