Petra Januskova Leads Women's Tennis at Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational

MIDLAND, TEXAS -- The Penn State women's tennis team continued play at the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational with Petra Januskova (Ottawa, Canada) advancing in the consolation bracket. Januskova will play Rice's Jessica Jackson in the consolation semifinals Sunday morning.

In doubles action, Denisa Zobeideh (Weston, Fla.) and Fernanda Perrotta (Buenos Aires, Argentina) lost to Lauren Megale and Stephanie Jasper of Boise State in the opening round, 8-0. Sarah Henderson (Bloomington, Ind.) and Maria Prishlyak (Kiev, Ukraine) were bested in the first round by Giada D'Ortona and Daiana Negreanu of Texas-Arlington, 8-6.

In the second round of doubles play, Januskova and Amy Simidian were edged by Jaclyn Walker and Julia Mongin of Abiline Christian, 9-8 (12-10).

Perrotta also saw time in a singles match against Lauren Santacrose of Texas A&M and was victorious, 6-2, 6-1.

The Nittany Lions close out play at the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational tomorrow.

The team will continue their season October 1-3 at the Hokie Fall Invitational in Blacksburg, Va.
