UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Coming off a first-place finish at the Maryland Intercollegiate, the Penn State men's golf team will travel to Glenview, Ill. to compete at the 14th annual Windon Memorial Classic. The Northwestern Wildcats will host 16 teams at the North Shore Country Club for a two-day, 54-hole tournament Sunday, Sept. 26 through Monday, Sept. 27.
The tournament returns to the North Shore's 7,067 yard, par-71 course for the fourth time in tournament history. In addition to hosting the Windon in 1998, 2003 and 2008, the Club has previously hosted U.S. Amateur and U.S. Open Championships.
Northwestern, who took second-place last year, welcomes back 10 of the 15 teams who competed in the 2009 Windon Memorial. Returning competitors include Coastal Carolina, Indiana, Kent State, Michigan, Minnesota, Purdue, Tennessee, Tulsa, and UC Davis. In addition to Penn State, new teams joining the field this year are: California, Florida Atlantic, Long Beach State, Marquette, Ohio State, and Princeton.
Competing for the Nittany Lions are seniors T.J. Howe (Osceola, Pa.) and Jason Cohan (Wayne, Pa.), sophomores Ernesto Marin (Miami, Fla.) and Anthony DeGol (Hollidaysburg, PA) and freshman Michael Miller (Brewster, N.Y.).
