Eddie Bourchier and Jason Lee Advance to Doubles Quarterfinals at ITA Atlantic Regionals

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Senior Eddie Bourchier (Hobart, Australia) and junior Jason Lee (Melbourne, Australia) earned an 8-6 victory over Virginia Tech's Pedro Graber and Patrick Daciek to advance to the quarterfinals at the ITA Atlantic Regionals on Friday. Bourchier additionally picked up a singles win to advance to the quarterfinals. He eventually lost his quarterfinal match to the No. 1-seeded player in the tournament.

In the singles round of 16, Bourchier faced George Washington's Christopher Kushma. In the first set, Bourchier pounded out a close 7-5 win to take a one set lead. From there, he slipped by Kushma in the second set as well, earning him a 7-5, 6-4 victory to advance him to the quarterfinals.

Following his round of 16 win, Bourchier had the challenge of facing Michael Shabaz, the No. 1 seed in the tournament and the No. 6-ranked player in the country. Bourchier put in his best effort against Shabaz, but the Shabaz defeated Bourchier, 6-2, 6-1.

Bourchier and Lee are set to play the No. 1 seed Virginia pairing of Alex Domijan and Jarmere Jenkins on Saturday. The start time is set for sometime after noon.

Following the ITA Regional Championships in Charlottesville, the squad will close the fall season at the Big Ten Singles tournament from Oct. 28-Nov. 1.
