NORFOLK, Va.; October 24, 2010 - Sophomore Petra Januskova (Ottawa, Canada) advanced to the singles finals of the ITA Atlantic Regional with a pair of victories today in Norfolk, Va.
Januskova defeated the tournament's No. 2 seed, Virginia's Erin Vierra, in the quarterfinals. Januskova led 5-1 when Vierra retired due to injury. In the semifinals, Januskova rallied from a 3-5 deficit in the third set to win the next four points and defeat Virginia Tech's Martha Blakely (6-4, 5-7, 7-5).
Januskova will face the tournament's top seed, Marshall's Michaela Kissel, at 9 a.m. for the tournament championship. The winner of the finals match will qualify for the National Indoors in Flushing, N.Y., which begins Nov. 4.
