TULSA, Okla. - Senior Eddie Bourchier (Hobart, Australia) concluded his play at the D'Novo/ITA All-American Championships with a strong 6-1, 7-6 (3) victory over New Mexico's Connor Berg on Tuesday. Bourchier finishes the week in Tulsa with a 1-1 record.
With the win, Bourchier improves to 5-1 this fall in singles action. Bourchier is coming off a successful outing at the Farnsworth/Princeton Fall in September. The senior captain was crowned the champion in Flight "A" singles and Flight "A" doubles, where he teamed up with junior Jason Lee (Melbourne, Australia).
Bourchier was vying to become the program's second player, along with Michael James in 2007, to compete in the 64-player main draw at the All-American Championships. The Nittany Lion senior is 63-38 all-time in his stellar career. He ranks first in singles wins among active players.
The Nittany Lions will head to the ITA Regional Championships on Oct. 14-18 in Charlottesville, Va. The squad will close the fall season at the Big Ten Singles tournament from Oct. 28-Nov. 1.
