Women's Tennis' Petra Januskova Wins First Match of ITA All-American Qualifiers

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; October 5, 2010 - Sophomore Petra Januskova (Ottawa, Canada) of the Penn State women's tennis team advanced to the second round of the ITA All-American Qualifier today.

Jauskova defeated Olivia Colman of San Diego State University, 6-2, 6-0, in the first round of qualifying. She will play Sonja Molnar of Iowa in the round of 32. Molnar is currently 37th in the ITA Preseason Rankings.

To advance to the main draw, Januskova will need two more wins in the qualifier.

Januskova is coming off a consolation tournament victory at the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational in Midland, Texas. She defeated the tournament's top seed, Alexandra Kichoutkin of Tulsa, 6-3, 6-4 to win the bracket.

The Nittany Lions will continue play at the ITA Regional in Norfolk Va. Oct. 21-25.
