UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Senior T.J. Howe (Osceola, Pa) will travel to El Paso, Texas this week to compete in the 36th annual Western Refining College All-America Golf Classic at the par-71, 6,837-yard El Paso Country Club. The tournament will take place Nov. 21-23.
The tournament will welcome U.S. Amateur Champion Peter Uihlein of Oklahoma State, 2010 NCAA Amateur Champion Scott Langley of Illinois and returning event champion Hunter Hamrick of Alabama, among the 32 competitors. The field will also include seven of the top 11 amateur golfers in the world according to the R&A World Amateur Golf Rankings; Oklahoma State's Uihlein and Kevin Tway, Illinois' Langley, Washington's Chris Williams, Augusta State's Patrick Reed, and Georgia's Russell Henley and Harris English.
The Golf Classic, hosted by the Sun Bowl Association, began today with the Titleist Long Drive Contest and the PING Putting Contest. The first two rounds of the 54-hole tournament will take place Monday, Nov. 22 starting at 8 a.m. and the final round will take place Tuesday, Nov. 23 at 8 a.m. The final round will be followed by a trophy presentation.
Each university represented in the field will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship.
