Penn State to Host Youth Clinic During NCAA Women's Volleyball Regionals

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - In conjunction with the 2010 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Regional hosted by Penn State, the NCAA and American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) will host a Powerade Youth Volleyball Clinic on Dec. 11 from 3:30-5 p.m. in the South Gym of Rec Hall.

Youth, ages 8-12, of all ability levels are invited to join the NCAA and AVCA for an opportunity to develop fundamental playing skills, as well as learn to play and communicate as part of a team. Check-in is at 3 p.m. The youth clinic, which will include instruction from collegiate coaches, is free of charge and limited to the first 175 participants.

Penn State is one of four host sites for the 2010 NCAA Women's Volleyball Regional Championships on Dec. 10-11. The three-time defending national champion Nittany Lions have hosted at least one round of the NCAA Tournament in 23 of the possible 29 years, including the last 20 consecutive seasons. Penn State has played 46 NCAA matches in the confines of Rec Hall since 1981 and boasts an impressive 43-3 record. Rec Hall has played host to the Regional Championships in 1997, 1998, 1999, 2005, 2007 and 2008.

The Regional Semifinal matches are set for 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 10 in Rec Hall. The Regional Final match will be played at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11. All-session tickets are available by calling 814-865-5555 at a cost of $16 for adults and $10 for youth and students.
