Penn State Bowl Tickets on Sale Sunday Night

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa., - Nittany Lion Club members and 2010 season football tickets holders will be able to purchase tickets online for Penn State's bowl game beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, December 5. The Nittany Lions' bowl destination and opponent will be announced by 8:45 p.m. on Sunday.

Tickets will be on sale online only at www.GoPSUsports.com Sunday night. In order to purchase tickets Sunday evening, buyers will need to have their account number and password.

Although there is no limit on the quantity of tickets an individual may buy, Nittany Lion Club members will receive priority locations on up to ten (10) tickets, allocated in NLC point order. NLC priority orders expire Wednesday, Dec. 8 at 6:00 p.m. Tickets will be mailed on Tuesday, December 14.

The general public can purchase tickets by phone starting Monday, Dec. 6 at 10:00 a.m. by calling (814) 865-5555. Phone orders can be made weekdays from 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.

Student bowl tickets will be available via a walk-up sale at the Bryce Jordan Center ticket office at a time and date to be announced. Student Nittany Lion Club members will receive priority for ticket purchase and location. There will be a two (2) ticket limit per student ID and tickets can be purchased with cash only.

Students interested in buying bowl tickets should check Student Central (www.gopsusports.com/ot/studentcentral.html) and/or The Daily Collegian the week of Dec. 6 for the date and time of the sale. Tickets will be issued at the time of purchase.

The Nittany Lions may have an opportunity to play in their 25th New Year's bowl game under Hall of Fame coach Joe Paterno, who has led Penn State to a 17-7 mark in such games. Paterno is the all-time leader in bowl appearances (37th) and bowl victories (24-11-1 record).

The Nittany Lions, who have only eight senior starters, will most likely be selected to play in one of the following three bowl games:

Outback Bowl - Saturday, January 1 vs. SEC team in Tampa, Fla. 1:00 p.m. ET ($70 ticket)
Gator Bowl - Saturday, January 1 vs. SEC team in Jacksonville, Fla. 1:30 p.m. ET ($80 ticket)
Insight Bowl - Tuesday, Dec. 28 vs. Big 12 team in Tempe, Ariz. 8:00 p.m. MT ($64 ticket)

Penn State has won four of its last five bowl appearances, with victories in the 2006 FedEx Orange Bowl (Florida State), 2007 Outback Bowl (Tennessee), 2007 Alamo Bowl (Texas A&M) and 2010 Capital One Bowl (LSU). The only loss came in the 2009 Rose Bowl (USC).

Penn State will be making its 43rd bowl appearance all-time. The Nittany Lions are No. 3 in the nation with 27 post-season victories and tied for No. 1 nationally in bowl winning percentage (66.7, 27-13-2) among schools with at least 20 bowl appearances.
