CARSON, Calif. - Three-time NSCAA All-American Alyssa Neher and fellow 2009 classmate and two-time NSCAA All-American Katie Schoepfer are participating in a week-long training camp for the U.S. U-23 Women's National Team this week at the Hope Depot Center.
Naeher, a previous FIFA U-20 World Cup Gold Glover winner (2008), is in the U-23 camp after previously being apart of the full U.S. National Team last winter in the run up to World Cup Qualifying. Naeher was a two-time NSCAA All-America First Team honoree (2007-08) and earned a third-team spot in 2009. Naeher is currently a member of the WPS's Boston Breakers as the starting goalkeeper.
Schoepfer has been a U-23 mainstay for the past few years including multiple trips overseas with the squad. Schoepfer graduated Penn State and moved on to the Sky Blue FC squad of the WPS in 2010. The striker is one of five forwards called into the camp by head coach Bill Irwin. During her tenure in Happy Valley, Schoepfer garnered NSCAA All-America Second Team honors in 2007 and followed that up with a 2009 third-team campaign.
The U.S. U-23 training camp will run until December 19 at the Home Depot Center, home of Major League Soccer's L.A. Galaxy and Chivas USA.
