UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; Dec. 6, 2010 - Penn State (6-2) will close out a four-game home stand on Tuesday when it takes on Mount St. Mary's (3-5) in a 7:30 p.m. tip at the Bryce Jordan Center.
The game can be seen on the BigTenNetwork.com or heard on the Penn State Sports Network (local 1450 AM, Sirius Ch 127; XM CH 196) with Steve Jones and Dick Jerardi calling the action.
Talor Battle posted his fifth career 30-point game on Saturday as he led the Lions past Duquesne hitting 5-of-8 from three. Battle is on pace to become the first Nittany Lion ever to post three consecutive seasons of 500 points or more. He currently stands tied with Jesse Arnelle (507 in 1954 & 731 in 1955) as the only players to post back-to-back 500-point seasons and can also join Arnelle as the only other Lion to lead Penn State in scoring in four-straight seasons. Jeff Brooks continued his strong play in the game posting 17 points and seven rebounds. Penn State shot a season-best 54.9 percent from the floor in the win and equaled a season-high with 77 points.
Senior David Jackson and freshman Billy Oliver, both of which left Saturday's game with injuries, are not expected to play Tuesday for precautionary reasons as they nurse a neck strain and head injury, respectively.
Penn State will be taking on The Mount for the third time in the last six seasons. Penn State holds a 5-0 series lead and is 22-1 vs. teams from the Northeast Conference.
Mt. St. Mary's is coming of a close 77-75 loss at Quinnipiac on Saturday and will be playing its third-straight road game when it travels to "Happy Valley" for Tuesday's tip. The Mount will bring a 3-5 record into Tuesday having lost at Dayton (67-52) and at Cincinnati (69-69) to start the season before downing Savannah State in overtime (68-62) for their first victory. They also have losses to Navy and Niagara and have played five of eight games on the road. Shawn Atupem leads the Mount with 13.1 ppg and 6.0 rpg. Lamar Trice is putting up 12.8 ppg with 11 threes and Julian Norfleet is scoring 11.5 ppg with 18 threes. The Mount is shooting 27 percent from three and scoring 65.1 ppg.
