UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; January 21, 2011-- After months on the road the Penn State Nittany Lion fencers are returning to the White Building. This weekend they will host Duke, Drew, University of Pennsylvania, UNC, Temple and Johns Hopkins. The competition will be held Saturday, Jan. 29. Action will begin at 9a.m.
Last week the USFCA Coaches Poll ranked Penn State fourth amongst ten other schools. The University of Pennsylvania is the only other school, Penn State will see this weekend, that appears on the list.
This season National Champion Margherita Guzzi Vincenti has dominated the women's epee while fellow All-American David Willette has turned out consistently solid performances in the men's foil.
The Nittany Lions are on the quest for their third straight national title this year which would be the Penn State fencing programs 13th in its history.
Following this weekends competition the Penn State men's and women's fencing teams will travel to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Sun. Feb 6. Action will begin at 9 a.m.
