Women's Diving Team Finishes Winter Training Competition

INDIANAPOLIS, IN. - The Penn State women's diving team continued its winter training at the US National Diving Training Center in Indianapolis, Indiana on Sunday with a slew of strong performances in a meet against Wyoming and Arkansas.

During the competition, the Nittany Lions entered five divers in the two events and saw several standouts post season-best scores during the afternoon action.

Penn State pieced together a strong showing in the 3-meter board as the squad placed a pair of competitors in the top-three. Ilana Zeises led the way with a second-place showing as the senior recorded her best score of the year after posting a 244.95. Katie O'Connell finished close behind as she placed third with a 242.85 mark.

Senior Megan Marco finished just outside of the top-five with a score of 213.83, while Megan Springsteen tallied a mark of 195.53, which placed her eighth in the field. Meg Alderman rounded out the group in 10th place.

In the 1-meter event, Marco led the way as she finished fifth with a score of 250.40. Zeises and O'Connell were close behind as the pair placed sixth and seventh, respectively. Alderman had a strong effort as well, placing ninth in the accomplished field, while Springsteen followed in 14th place.

The Nittany Lion swimming team will hit the pool on Tuesday with a meet against North Carolina in Naples, Florida. The squad will be back together in full-force next weekend when Penn State travels to College Park for a two-day meet against Maryland, Pittsburgh, and Villanova beginning on January 14 at 5 p.m.
