Lions Set for Six-Game Spring Schedule Slate

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State women's soccer announced its six-game spring schedule on Tuesday beginning with two 60-minute matches on Feb. 26 at Holuba Hall with a free clinic following play. In addition to three home matches, the Nittany Lions will tackle two Women's Professional Soccer sides in exhibition play.

The 13-time defending Big Ten Champions will host a three-team jamboree on Sunday, Feb. 26 at Holuba Hall with Akron and Saint Joseph's. Penn State and Akron face off at 4:00 p.m. before the Zips and Hawks tangle at 5:15 p.m. The Nittany Lions and SJU return to the field at 6:45 p.m. to conclude the competition. Following the games, a free youth clinic will take place beginning at 8:00 p.m. All potential clinic players are asked to wear soccer attire, bring a ball and a water bottle.

Penn State will travel to Downingtown, Pa. face the first of two WPS teams on March 23 when the Nittany Lions play the Philadelphia Independence at United Training Center. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. at Widener College. The second WPS opponent is Sky Blue FC for an April 3 match in New Jersey.

The Nittany Lions will host local rival and defending Northeast Conference Champion Saint Francis on April 15 at the Jeffrey Field Training Complex. Penn State rounds out its spring docket with an April 22 matchup with ACC power Maryland. Game times for the final three matches have yet to be determined.

Penn State will also have a clinic set for May 1 for high-school aged players. Time, location and other details will be announced at a later date.
