2011 BIG EAST/Big Ten Challenge to be Webcast Live

Feb. 14, 2011

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Two of the Penn State baseball team's three games during the 2011 BIG EAST/Big Ten Challenge next week will be webcast live through Collegebaseball360.com, including the Nittany Lions' season-opener against Seton Hall on Friday, February 18, at 10 a.m.

In coordination with College Baseball 360 and the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Sports Commission, 13 games will be webcast during the tournament. Award-winning sportscaster Sean Stires, Bradenton Marauders announcer Joel Godett, and Ian Dooley will provide the live play-by-play.

"We are extremely excited to again webcast games at the BIG EAST/Big Ten Baseball Challenge," said College Baseball 360 Editor Sean Stires. "Last year nearly 12,000 viewers logged-on to watch the eight games we were able to webcast, which prompted us to add five more games to this year's schedule."

Along with the season-opener again Seton Hall, fans can also watch the Nittany Lions battle Notre Dame on Sunday at 10 a.m. Both webcasts can be viewed through the event website (www.BIGEASTBigTenBaseballChallenge.com) in addition to CollegeBaseball360.com.

For the third straight year, Penn State will open the season with three games during the BIG EAST/Big Ten Baseball Challenge in Florida. The Lions will kick off the year against the Pirates on Friday at Al Lang Field before battling West Virginia at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Jack Russell Stadium. The squad will wrap up the tournament with its showdown against the Fighting Irish.

Historically, Penn State has been a force in the annual event. During both years, the team won two of its three contests. Last season, PSU upended Cincinnati and Seton Hall after downing Northwestern and Seton Hall in 2009.

Tickets for the Challenge are still on sale and can be purchased through the tournament website. All-tournament passes are $25, while individual day passes are available for $10.
