UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State's christening of Nittany Lion Softball Park will have to wait a couple more days as Thursday's doubleheader vs. Buffalo was postponed due to inclement weather. Penn State hosts Wisconsin in its Big Ten opener for the inaugural game at Beard Field on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
A cold snap that came through the Northeast brought sleet and freezing rain to Happy Valley overnight Tuesday. While rain washed much of the slush away, another bout of the wintry mix is expected Wednesday night forcing the postponement of the inaugural series. Penn State and Buffalo are tentatively rescheduling the games for April 14 at Nittany Lion Softball Park.
Penn State is slated to begin its Big Ten Conference slate on Saturday when it welcomes Wisconsin to Nittany Lion Softball Park for a 2:00 p.m. game. The two-game series is scheduled to conclude on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Both games will have live stats coverage on GameTracker as well as commentary on Twitter (www.twitter.com/PSULionSoftball), while Penn State ComRadio will broadcast the game over the internet for free.
