Penn State (4-3, 2-0 CAA) will play two road games this week. The No. 20 Nittany Lions visit No. 18 Bucknell on Tuesday, March 29, at 7:30 p.m. and then trek to Lehigh on Saturday, April 2, at 1 p.m.

Penn state Cracks USILA Top 20

The Penn State men's lacrosse team is ranked 20th in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Division I Coaches Poll for the week of March 27th, 2011. Following upset wins over Rutgers and the University of Massachusetts, and a 14-6 victory over conference foe St. Joseph's, the Lions have achieved their first top 20 ranking since the end of the 2009 season. Penn State is currently 4-3 in the 2011 campaign, including a 2-0 conference record, their best conference start since joining the Colonial Athletic Association. The CAA boasts 4 teams in the top 20, as Penn State joins Hofstra (t10), UMass (14), and Delaware (t18).
THIS WEEK'S GAMES
The Nittany Lions will travel to take on No. 18 Bucknell on Tuesday, March 29 at 7:30 p.m. and then trek to Lehigh to play the Mountain Hawks on Saturday, April 2 at 1 p.m.
Penn State looks to continue its three-game winning streak after the 14-6 win over St Joseph's last Saturday, March 26 at Bigler Field. Senior Jack Forster leads the Nittany Lions in scoring with four goals, and face-off specialist Danny Henneghan notched his first two goals of the season for the first multi-point game of his career. Nick Dolik posted two goals for the Nittany Lions, and Matt Mackrides, Shane Sturgis, Ryan Link, Gavin Ahern, Billy Gribbin, and Tom LaCrosse each had a goal in the win. Senior captains Matt Bernier and Matt Shankoff were also key contributors in the Lions' victory over the Hawks.
Leading Penn State's offense thus far this season are Sturgis (ten goals, nine assists), Mackrides (seven goals, six assists), Forster (seven goals), Dolik (four goals, two assists) and Gribbin (four goals, one assist). Penn State's midfield is led by VanThof (five goals, five assists), Colton Vosburgh (six goals, two assists) and LaCrosse (five goals). The Lion defense is led by senior Matt Bernier and freshman goalie Austin Kaut.
The Bucknell Bison, currently ranked No. 18 in the country, are coming off an 11-9 win against No. 16 Albany last Saturday, March 26 at home at Christy Matthewson-Memorial Stadium. The Bison are lead by senior midfielder Ryan Klipstein (20 goals, eight assists), senior attackman Mike Danylyshyn (eight goals, twelve assists), junior attackman Billy Eisenreich (12 goals, seven assists), junior midfielder Charlie Streep (12 goals, four assists) and junior midfielder Nick Gantsoudes (13 goals, two assists).
Lehigh is coming off a hard-fought 11-5 win at Holy Cross on Saturday, March 26 and will face Binghamton at home at Ullrich Sports Complex on Tuesday, March 29. The Mountain Hawks are lead by sophomore attackman Dante Fantoni (19 goals, eight assists), sophomore attackman David DiMaria (11 goals, 14 assists), junior midfielder Cameron Lao-Gosney (16 goals, seven assists), junior attackman Adam Johnston (19 goals, two assists) and senior midfielder Jonathan Stumpf (11 goals, eight assists).
