COLUMBUS, Ohio - Fans looking to root on the Penn State baseball team as the Nittany Lions compete in the Big Ten Tournament at Huntington Park from May 25-28 can purchase individual and group tickets in a variety ways both before and during the playoffs this week.
Single-game tickets to the 2011 Big Ten Baseball Tournament are on sale now and cost $10 for adults and $7 for youth and senior citizens. Additionally, single-game VIP tickets, which are located behind home plate and allow access to the Tansky Club Area, cost $15 apiece. All non-VIP single-game tickets are general admission.
For those fans looking to attend every game this week, All-Tournament passes are also available. Those tickets, which provide access to each of the event's 11 games, cost $100 each.
In addition to individual passes, groups of at least 20 people can purchase tickets for $7 each. The family ticket package, which grants admission to two adults and up to four children 18 and under, costs $25, while a team ticket package, which admits up to two coaches and 10 athletes, goes for $60.
Tickets for the tournament are available at the Huntington Park box office. Additionally, passes can be purchased online through ColumbusSports.org, BigTen.org, and TicketMaster.com
Penn State will be competing in the postseason for the first time since 2008 after locking up the sixth seed in the playoffs. The Nittany Lions will open up against Purdue, which captured the third seed in the tournament. The two teams will kick off the action at 3:35 p.m. on Wednesday at Huntington Park, which is the home of the Triple-A Columbus Clippers.
No. 4 Ohio State and No. 5 Minnesota will also battle in an opening round game on Wednesday at 12:05 p.m. The lowest seeded team to win an opening round contest will advance to face Illinois, who earned the top seed in the postseason. The other opening round winner will battle No. 2 Michigan State. The tournament is a double-elimination competition.
The Big Ten Conference and the Greater Columbus Sports Commission will host the tournament for the third straight year as a neutral-site event. The tournament was held at Huntington Park in 2009, marking the conference's first neutral-site baseball tournament since 1994 and returns after being held at Ohio State's Bill Davis Stadium in 2010. The 2009 event drew more than 12,000 fans, marking the tournament's largest total in at least the previous decade.
For those fans that cannot make it to Huntington Park but would still like to follow along with the action, the Big Ten Network will televise all of the games during the postseason.
