Howe, DeGol to Play Second Round at U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship

June 27, 2011

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - It will be an early morning for Penn State golfers T.J. Howe (Osceola, Pa.) and Anthony DeGol (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) as they advance to the second round of the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort on Tuesday. The teammates will tee-off at 8:00 a.m. and 7:50 a.m., respectively, as they enter the final round of stroke play at the Championship.

Junior-to-be DeGol came out strong in the first round shooting a 2-over par 72 to place him tied for eighth. Howe was just three strokes behind DeGol with a 5-over par 77, placing him tied for 37.

The pool of 156 golfers representing 42 states and seven countries will have one more round of stroke play to secure a slot to advance to match play and ultimately the chance at being the next tournament champion.
