UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Summer proves to be no time for rest for recent graduate T.J. Howe and junior-to-be Anthony DeGol as the two Penn State golfers square up against 154 golfers at the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship. Rounds will commence Monday, June 27 with tee-times beginning at 7:30 a.m. at the Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Bandon, Ore.
The duo will represent their home state of Pennsylvania, which is just one of the 42 states represented in the championship. Individuals ranging in age from 15-58 will compete on two of the resort's courses including Old Macdonald and Bandon Trails. Old Macdonald stretches 7,016 yards with par of 34-37 - 71, while Bandon Trails plays 6,832 yards with a par of 35-35--70.
After 36 holes, the starting field will be cut to the low 64 scorers. The 64 finalists will then compete in six rounds of match play to determine the overall champion. The first two rounds of match play will incorporate both sites, but the finals rounds will be contested on Macdonald.
