UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - In the second weekend of FIVB World Grand Prix play, three former Nittany Lions earned a spot on the roster. Megan Hodge, Alisha Glass and Christa Harmotto were named to 14-player roster as the U.S. Women's National Team faced the Dominican Republic, Japan and Serbia in Pool H play.
The U.S. Women went 2-1 over the weekend, defeating the Dominican Republic, 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-10) and Japan, 3-0 (25-22, 25-14, 25-18) on Aug 12 and Aug. 13, respectively. The U.S. suffered a 3-1 (25-12, 17-25, 25-23, 25-15) setback to Serbia on Aug. 14.
Against NORCECA rival Dominican Republic, Hodge tallied four kills in eight errorless swings and tallied two aces for six points. She subbed in during set two and started set three. Hodge posted 10 kills and one ace for 11 points against Serbia. She also registered a team-high 14 excellent receptions in 29 attempts. Glass saw action against Serbia in the first, third and fourth sets, while Hodge subbed in during set two and started sets three and four.
The U.S. Women's National Team, currently in third place in the standings, continues tournament play this weekend in Pool J in Hong Kong. The U.S. will take on Germany, Italy and Peru.
