UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The No. 18 Penn State men's soccer team will conclude its 2011 preseason schedule on Friday night when it hosts Towson in a 7 p.m. exhibition contest at Jeffrey Field.
Head coach Bob Warming's 2011 Nittany Lion squad premiered earlier this week with a victory, topping Hartwick, 3-1, on Tuesday evening at home in its preseason opener. Junior forward Hasani Sinclair (Coral Gables, Fla.), a transfer from South Florida, shined in his Penn State debut, scoring two goals. Junior midfielder Daniel Parr (Hummelstown, Pa.) also netted a goal. Senior defender Matt Smallwood (Cochranville, Pa.), who was recently appointed team captain for the 2011 season, and junior forward Daniel Burnham (Boise, Idaho) earned assists on Sinclair's goals.
Towson, which was selected to place 10th in the CAA preseason coaches' poll, returns 14 letterwinners and four starters from a 2010 team that went posted a 9-6-2 record, including a 3-6-2 mark in conference play. The Tigers are coming off a 4-3 exhibition loss to Maryland in College Park on Tuesday. Sophomore forward Olakunle Banjo, Towson's leading returning scorer, netted two goals while junior forward Anthony Okodua accounted for the Tigers' other score.

The Nittany Lions will begin regular season action next weekend when they welcome No. 15 Ohio State, Siena, and American to Jeffrey Field for the annual Penn State Classic. On the first day of play, Sat., August 27, Ohio State will take on American (5 p.m.) to be followed by Penn State facing Siena (7 p.m.). Day two action, scheduled for Mon., August 29, will pit Ohio State versus Siena (3 p.m.) and Penn State against American (7 p.m.).
