UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. - The Nittany Lion Club announced a pair of preview events in late August, starting with the 2011 Penn State Sports Preview on Monday, Aug. 29 in Philadelphia and ending with the 2011 Penn State Football Season Preview on Tuesday, Aug. 30 in Harrisburg. The voice of the Nittany Lions, Steve Jones, will emcee both events and will be joined by first-year men's basketball coach Patrick Chambers in Philadelphia. The Central Pennsylvania Chapter and Delaware Valley Chapter will host the events, respectively.
The Penn State Sports Preview: Kick-off and Tip-off will take place at the Radisson Hotel - Valley Forge with a dessert reception at 7 p.m. and the program at 7:30 p.m. The cost to attend the event is $30. Registration forms must be returned to Gail and Denny Lowe by August 25. Jones and Chambers will give attendees a preview of the 2011-12 Penn State basketball team. Additionally, Jones will also give attendees his insight on the 2011 Nittany Lion football team, as well as other Penn State sports teams. The event will also include a silent auction and raffle.
The Penn State Football Season Preview will take place at the West Shore Country Club in Camp Hill with a reception at 5:30 p.m. and tailgate-style dinner at 6:15 p.m. The cost to attend the event is $25. Registration forms must be returned to Jim Smeltzer by August 25. Jones will discuss the 2011 Nittany Lions with attendees. Additionally, select Penn State varsity coaches may be in attendance. The event will also include a silent auction and raffle.
