Women's Golf in Fifth at Nittany Lion Invitational

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -

The Penn State women's golf team finished the first round of play at the Nittany Lion Invitational in fifth place. Host Penn State carded a 17-over-par 305 on the 6,229-yard, par-72 Penn State Blue Course.

Freshman Katlyn Elliott (Peterborough, Ont.) led the Nittany Lions in the first round, posting a career-best 74. She is tied for sixth place. Classmates Elyse Archambault (St-Jean-sur-Rich, Que.) and Erin Michel (Mason, Ohio) are tied for 13th place after each notching a 4-over-par. Michel was competing as an individual.

Sophomore Christina Vosters (Bethany Beach, Del.) is tied for 25th place after a first-round score of 77. Classmate Ellen Ceresko (Jefferson Township, Pa.) and junior Hanule Seo (St. Louis, Mo.) rounded out the starters for the Nittany Lions, each carding a 78. Ceresko and Seo are tied for 33rd place. All four remaining Nittany Lions competed as individuals.

Longwood led the field the first day with a 4-over-par 292. Longwood's Ariel Witmer and Amanda Steinhagen are currently tied for first place, each posting a 1-under-par 71.

The tee times for the second round of play, which were scheduled to begin 8:30 a.m. on Saturday (Oct. 1), have been changed to a 10 a.m. shotgun start due to anticipated inclement weather. The third round will take place on Sunday (Oct. 2) with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
