PARK RIDGE, Ill. - Penn State freshman midfielder Laura Gebhart (Mount Joy, Pa.) has been named Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week. Gebhart tallied six points last week in big wins over Villanova and No. 15 Indiana. Gebhart is Penn State's third freshman of the week winner this season.
Gebhart put Penn State up 4-0 against Villanova after scoring on a penalty corner this past Tuesday. She then tallied her second goal of that game to put PSU up 7-2, which turned out to be the final score. Gebhart also earned an assist in that game. The talented freshman recorded an assist against Indiana on sophomore Brittany Grzywacz's (Collegeville, Pa.) goal to put the Nittany Lions up 2-0, which eventually turned out to be a 6-2 win.
Penn State travels to Lafayette this evening for a 6 p.m. matchup with the Leopards.
