UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State men's and women's fencing teams will be back in action this weekend. The Nittany Lions are hosting the Penn State Junior Open/ Lion Open this Saturday and Sunday in the White Building. Action begins at 9 a.m. on both days.
The Nittany Lions are heading into the 2011-2012 season after a second place finish at last years NCAA Fencing Championships. This year Head Coach Emmanuil Kaidanov is returning six All-Americans and is looking to improve upon his teams success from last year. The fencers are hoping to reclaim the NCAA National Title they held in both 2009 and 2010. The final roster of Nittany Lions competing will be decided later this week.
Penn State will return to action in two weeks as they head to the Temple Open in Philadelphia. The two- day event will be held Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 5-6. Action will begin 8 a.m.
