The final round of the Nittany Lion Invitational has been canceled. The course was ruled unplayable due to inclement weather and the scores from the end of round two were used as the final results.
Penn State, who was hosting the tournament at the par-72, 6,229-yard Penn State Blue Course, finished in a tie for second place out of 15 teams. The Nittany Lions carded a 23-over-par 599 (305-294), good for the fourth-best 36-hole score in school history.
Freshman Katlyn Elliott (Peterborough, Ont.) and sophomore Christina Vosters (Bethany Beach, Del.) finished the tournament tied for eighth place after putting together two-round 5-over-par scores of 149. Vosters' score of 72 in the second round was a new career-best.
Eastern Michigan won the team title after posting a 21-over-par 597 (300-297). Longwood's Ariel Witmer took the individual title with an even-par 144 (71-73).
The Penn State women's golf team will be back in action at the Lady Northern on Oct. 10. The two-day tournament will be hosted by Indiana in French Lick, Ind.
