UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Nittany Lion track and field and cross country squads will be sponsoring a Red Cross Blood Drive, this afternoon at the Bryce Jordan Center. The drive is being held in honor of assistant coach Fritz Spence, who is celebrating three years in remission from acute myelogenous leukemia. Donors are encouraged to stop by the blood drive in Rooms E and F in the Jordan Center, up until 4:00 p.m., Monday afternoon.
The event marks the second-straight year that the track and field and cross country teams have sponsored the drive as part of the Red Cross "Bleed Blue" campaign across campus. Last year, the drive yielded 38 units, bettering the day's goal of 30 units. The goal number for 2011 is 40 units.
