UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State field hockey team (9-3, 2-0) will look to make it eight straight wins as it travels to the 15th-ranked Indiana Hoosiers on Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. The Nittany Lions have outscored their opponents 32-8 during a seven-game winning streak.

Penn State picked up its seventh straight victory on Tuesday evening in a 7-2 winning effort against the Villanova Wildcats. The seven goals and 19 points were both a season-highs for the Nittany Lions.
Junior Kelsey Amy (Sweet Valley, Pa.) scored the first three goals of the game to put the Nittany Lions in front 3-0. Freshman Laura Gebhart (Mount Joy, Pa.) scored a career-high two goals and reigning Big Ten Freshman of the Week Taylor Herold (Fredericksburg, Va.) scored a goal for the second straight game. Sophomore Brittany Grzywacz (Collegeville, Pa.) also scored on a penalty corner. Senior Casey McCartin (Horsham, Pa.) tallied a career-high three assists.
Indiana enters Friday's game with a 7-3 overall record and a 1-1 mark in Big Ten play. The Hoosiers most recently are coming off a 3-2 loss to 20th-ranked Ohio State. Previously, Indiana picked up three-straight victories, including one over a Big Ten foe in Northwestern. Leading the way for the Hoosiers is Morgan Fleetwood, who has 16 points on the season, including seven goals. Maggie Olson will make the start in the cage for the Hoosiers, as she holds a 6-1 record this year.
In 16 total matchups, the Nittany Lions hold a 13-3 series advantage over the Hoosiers. In the most recent matchup between the two teams, Penn State picked up a 4-1 win in the Big Ten Tournament last season. Penn State has won the last two matchups and three of the last five. Indiana's last win against the Lions came on Nov. 6, 2009 in 3-1 Hoosier victory in the Big Ten Tournament.
Following Indiana on Friday, Penn State will continue its three-game road trip as it travels to Lafayette on Tuesday. The Nittany Lions then will trek to Michigan on Oct. 16.
Penn State hosts the 2011 Big Ten Field Hockey Tournament from Nov. 3-6. Tickets for the Big Ten Tournament can be purchased by contacting the Bryce Jordan Center ticket office at 814-865-5555. All session passes are $18 for adults and $12 for students/senior citizens. Single session tickets will run at $8 for adults and $5 for students/senior citizens. Groups of 15 people or more may also purchase tickets at $12 for all session passes and $5 for a single session.
