UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Freshman setter Micha Hancock (Edmond, Okla.) was named Co-Big Ten Freshman of the Week, conference officials announced Monday. This is the third honor of the season for Hancock. She shares the honor with Northwestern's Yewande Akanbi.
Hancock was integral in Penn State's two victories to close out the regular season last week. The Nittany Lions defeated Ohio State, 3-1, on Nov. 23 before beating Michigan State, 3-1, on Nov. 26. For the week, Hancock paced the Nittany Lion offense to a .271 attack percentage while tallying 89 assists, averaging 11.12 assists per set. Hancock also posted nine kills, two aces, 15 digs and three blocks.
Against the Buckeyes, Hancock registered 51 assists as the Nittany Lions hit .245. She also contributed eight digs and two kills. Versus Michigan State, Hancock recorded 38 assists to help Penn State post a .271 hitting percentage. She tied her career-best with seven kills and also totaled two aces, seven digs and four blocks.
Penn State earned the No. 8 seed in the 2011 NCAA Tournament and will host the First and Second Rounds on Dec. 2-3 at Rec Hall. The Nittany Lions take on Liberty at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 2. American and Delaware play at 5 p.m. in the other First Round match. The winners of both matches play on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m. in Rec Hall.

SINGLE SESSION tickets WILL ONLY be available at Rec Hall on Friday and Saturday and are $8 for adults, $6 for youth and students and $5 for groups.
